NEW YORK and LONDON – Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP has completed its merger with London-based Kendall Freeman, the firms said in a joint announcement today. Financial details were not disclosed.
The new international firm will operate in the United States as Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP and in the United Kingdom as Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge UK LLP. It will continue to be led by EAPD co-managing partners Terrence M. Finn and Charles E. DeWitt, who are based in the firm’s Boston office.
“We are gratified by the enthusiasm and determination that all of our people have shown since announcing the merger,” Finn said in a statement today. “We have brought together the best, most talented professionals, who share values and philosophies.”
“Since announcing the merger on 1 November, we have had overwhelmingly positive responses from our clients and the broader legal community,” added Laurence Harris, Kendall Freeman’s managing partner for the past seven years, who will serve as partner-in-charge of the London office. Both he and David Kendall will join the EAPD executive committee, which has representatives from each office.
“The merger secures the new firm’s placement within the Global and AmLaw 100 rankings of law firms,” EAPD noted. The transaction gives the firm 11 offices, 30-some practice areas and more than 600 lawyers.
“Now that we have completed the merger, we are better positioned to meet the global needs of our clients through industry-focused teams,” Harris said. Finn described the expanded EAPD as “an emerging legal powerhouse with the depth, experience and expertise to meet the business needs of leading companies and institutions.”
Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge is an international law firm with 10 U.S. offices – in Providence and Boston, plus Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, Fla.; Hartford and Stamford, Conn.; Madison, N.J.; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Wilmington, Del. – and one U.K. office, in London.
