FALL RIVER – EMC Technologies received a $75,000 loan from the Fall River Office of Economic Development to acquire Speccon Corp. of Plainville, Mass.
EMC, based for the past 10 years in Fall River, designs and manufactures wireless and wired test interface equipment that tests printed circuit boards and assemblies for a wide variety of applications. Speccon manufactures test interface equipment that supports the printed circuit board test industry.
The financing will go toward the acquisition as well as increasing EMC’s staff by four to 10 employees at the Fall River facility, FROED said.
“It’s always a positive sign for the City when a Fall River-based company is able to expand and evolve to become more competitive in its industry,” said Fall River Mayor William A. Flanagan in a news release on Wednesday.
BankFive also provided financing for the acquisition to EMC.
EMC is located at 21 Father DeValles Blvd.
