Amanda Ronchi | Greenwich Odeum general manager
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, live music venues were among the first to close and the last to reopen. During this time, our team at the Greenwich Odeum was dedicated to keeping the music alive and our doors open. With the support of our community, creativity and flexibility, we succeeded. Now, four years later, our theater continues to thrive, and we continue to rely on the lessons learned during this period.
•
Foster relationships and engage the community: Community support is one of our most important resources. This wasn’t just about asking for help [during the pandemic]; it was about fostering a sense of partnership. People want to contribute to causes they believe in and feel connected to.
•
Collaborate on solutions and connect with other similar businesses: Collaboration is essential. Crisis management is not a one-person job; bringing together diverse perspectives helps develop new ideas and solutions.
•
Adapt and stay flexible: Rethinking our event schedule and developing new ideas was not an easy feat. By staying adaptable, we continued to provide value to our community, even when traditional performances were not an option, ensuring we remained relevant.
Always be prepared to adapt and remember that success relies not only on your leadership but also on the strength and resilience of your team and community. By working together and supporting one another, you overcome tough challenges and come out stronger.
