Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum played host to 360 guests for the recent Arboreta-A Fashionable Evening under the Trees gala, which raised more than $130,000 in net proceeds.
“I sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support for the gala,” said Karen Binder, executive director of Blithewold. “The funds raised will be put towards the preservation and care of Blithewold’s rare collection of specimen trees and gardens.”
Russell Morin Fine Catering provided the cocktail hour and dinner while attendees were entertained with a “live birch grove” performed by actors from Ten31 Productions and dance music provided by the Boston-based Night Rhythm band.
The evening also included a champagne diamond raffle, as well as a live auction with Karen Adams of WPRI-TV Channel 12/Fox Providence served as mistress of the ceremony. A separate silent auction included trips, dinners, couture gowns and fashion accessories, and raised more than $31,000 for the preservation of Blithewold’s gardens. •
