Fairhaven gets nearly $1M in block grants to rehab housing, improve sidewalks

BOSTON – Fairhaven is one of 68 Massachusetts municipalities to receive funding in a recent round of $33.6 million in federal Community Development Block Grants aimed at funding infrastructure-improvement projects, boosting social services and increasing development opportunities.
The town – the only community in Bristol County, Mass., to receive funding – will receive a $952,117 grant for the rehabilitation of five housing units, sidewalk improvements and drainage repairs.
The funds are distributed to cities and towns in Massachusetts with populations of less than 50,000. •
