BOSTON – The Fairhaven Housing Authority is one of 13 Massachusetts housing authorities that will receive money for weatherization upgrades.
Announced last week by Gov. Deval L. Patrick, the authorities will receive a total of $1.7 million to replace old, inefficient heating in the buildings they operate. Fairhaven will receive $139,295 for the project.
The release of funding is part of $25 million in stimulus funds set aside for public housing energy upgrades. Those American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 funds come to the Mass. Department of Housing and Community Development from the U.S. Department of Energy and are administered by a statewide network of local nonprofit agencies.
Other communities receiving money are: Barnstable, Carver, Concord, Falmouth, Framingham, Franklin, Haverhill, Lowell, Norton, Sandwich, Sudbury and Wrentham. •
