Fall River companies get work force grants

FALL RIVER – Three Fall River companies are new recipients of work force training grants through the Mass. Workforce Training Fund.
The companies are: New England Shirt Co. LLC, which will receive $99,000; Precision Sportswear Inc., which will receive $16,400; and Victor Innovative Textiles which will receive $91,800.
In all, Gov. Deval L. Patrick’s administration announced $1,313,955 in work force training funds to 18 companies across Massachusetts last week. The funds will be matched by participating companies, providing an additional $3.5 million to train 1,874 workers statewide.
Training Fund grants range from approximately $16,400 to $100,000.
The Workforce Training Fund has been investing in workers and employers since 1999. Since taking office, the Patrick administration has invested more than $44.3 million to train 61,000 workers across the commonwealth in a range of critical and emerging industries, according to a news release. •
