WARWICK — FarSounder Inc. has released a new extended-range forward-looking sonar product, the FS-3ER Extended Range.
FarSounder makes products that generate three-dimensional images of the sea floor and objects in the water with a single sonar ping. They are used by commercial and private vessels to avoid obstacles and navigate shallow waters.

The new FS-3ER will have a range of 800 to 1,000 meters with an operational speed of up to 25 knots, the company said.
“FarSounder has always planned to develop a product suitable for larger and more commercial vessels,” Ian Bowles, FarSounder’s vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
“While breaking the one nautical mile barrier is still the challenge, we know that many operators will now see the FS-3ER as a realistic navigation tool for their vessels,” he said.
