Financial-aid tips for students offered online

WARWICK – The College Planning Center of Rhode Island has launched an online video presentation, Financial Aid 101, which provides families with 24-hour access to financial-aid tutorials.
The center, based at the Warwick Mall, says students and their families can get tips on searching for scholarships, and guidance on the often-complicated process of applying for aid.
While the center conducts more than 50 seminars annually, “some families with busy schedules don’t have the time to attend a seminar or visit one of our locations,” said Charles Kelley, executive director of the nonprofit Rhode Island Loan Authority, which sponsors the College Planning Center. The online video “extends the reach of the College Planning Center to a greater number of students and families across the state.”
The interactive video walks users through 16 topics, such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, Expected Family Contribution and work-study programs. The tutorial takes about 15 to 20 minutes to view completely, or viewers can skip to certain segments. &#8226
