CRANSTON – BlumShapiro, one of the state’s largest accounting and business services firms, has elected David E. Fontes as partner in Rhode Island.
The Connecticut-based firm, with offices in Cranston, lauded Fontes for his contribution to the company.

“In electing David partner, we are recognizing his outstanding leadership skills, strategic thinking, customer service and community involvement,” said CEO Joseph A. Kask in a prepared statement.
Fontes, a Lincoln resident, is a certified public accountant. He joined the Rhode Island office in 2014, and has 13 years of experience in the trade.
“I applaud David’s impressive career to date and look forward to his continuing contributions to our firm in the future,” Kask said.
Fortes is part of BlumShaprio’s team that offers employee-benefit plan audits. He serves on its manufacturing, distribution and retail delivery committee, according to a press release. In 2015, Fontes was named a Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Star by the National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals.
He participates on several boards, committees and associations of organizations and industries throughout Rhode Island.
