Forbes: Barrington’s schools outperform most

PROVIDENCE – Barrington residents get one of the biggest bangs for their real estate buck when it comes to providing education to children, according to a recent Forbes magazine ranking.
The magazine said the quality of the town’s schools ranked second among school districts across the nation where median home values ranged between $200,000 and $399,000. Only Falmouth, Maine, had a higher education quality as assessed by Forbes and GreatSchools, a nonprofit that provides information on school performance.
Even in school districts where median house prices were $400,000 and up, Barrington schools outperformed all but one other U.S. school district – Mercer Island, Wash., where the median home value is $708,740.
The second annual Forbes ranking debunks “the myth that big money correlates directly to great education,” Forbes said. •
