WARWICK – Former Rhode Island Hospital president and CEO Dr. Joseph Amaral has joined the board of directors of the medical device company Isis Biopolymer.
In a news release, Isis Biopolymer said Amaral “will provide strategic medical input and knowledge as the company continues to develop products and begin preclinical research testing of its products for various medical treatments and chronic conditions.”
Amaral, who is currently vice president of surgical technologies at Johnson & Johnson, recently helped Isis with a trial it conducted at Lifespan Central Research Facility on an experimental treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. He is also a professor of surgery at Brown University’s Alpert Medical School.
Emma Durand, the company’s president and chief technology officer, said Amaral’s input “will be extremely valuable, insightful and necessary as we move forward to bringing our products into the preclinical testing phase.” •
