MASHANTUCKET, Conn. – Foxwoods Resort Casino is poised to begin recruiting 2,000 workers for the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, the addition slated to open in May that will add nearly 2 million square feet of hotel, meeting, restaurant, entertainment and gaming space.
The campaign will begin this Sunday, with the launch of a new employment Web site – yourdream.jobs – that will feature company background and employee benefits information, as well as job postings.
MGM Grand at Foxwoods also will be attending regional job fairs and placing print, broadcast and billboard ads in the Providence, New London, New Haven and Hartford markets. To help create a diverse work force, the company will be conducting interviews at the annual National Society of Minorities in Hospitality conference, slated for Feb. 22-24 in Pittsburgh, and posting jobs electronically with more than 90 Native American tribes nationwide.
“Our employees will be the heart and soul of the customer service experience at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods,” Gillian Murphy, senior vice president and general manager of the new facility, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to begin the recruiting process and excited at the opportunity to be able to inject hundreds of new jobs into the local community and Connecticut economy.”
The new facility is expected to create at least 3,000 jobs: 2,000 at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods and another 1,000 at leased venues such as Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak; Junior’s, a famous New York eatery; and Michael Schlow’s Alta Strada. The MGM Grand positions will include 1,719 “front-of-house” jobs, including 277 dealers and 350 managers, and 286 back-of-house positions, the resort said.
Foxwoods Resort Casino, opened in 1992, has six casinos totaling 340,000 square feet of gaming space, in a complex that covers 4.7 million square feet and includes more than 1,400 guest rooms, 25 conference rooms and 55,000 square feet of meeting space; a 21,000-square-foot spa; restaurants, entertainment and retail venues; and the Lake of Isles golf courses and Golf Academy.
