A career in design is nothing new for Lincoln resident Kyleen Moraton. But over the past year, Moraton has taken her work to a new level, registering her own business in November 2020 and opening a storefront in August.
Moraton, founder of Kyleen Designs, started out designing baby clothes in 2004 and has worked for designers and on a freelance basis since then. Over the years, she expanded her creative offerings to other mediums, such as tumblers, clothes and stencils.
After more than 15 years as a designer, opening her store at Hope Artiste Village on Main Street in Pawtucket felt like a milestone, Moraton noted.
“It’s kind of like you made it,” she said. “It’s nice having a store because everyone is nice and creative.”
Hope Artiste Village, a renovated mill complex, hosts a variety of art studios, lofts and other spaces for work, dining, performances and other events.
The business’s location serves as a shop and a studio. Morton says she appreciates seeing her creations around her while she works. Previously, she would send off her designs and never see them again.
“I think this is the start of something bigger,” Moraton said. “I’m just glad to have my designs on something physical I can see.”
