Full Channel drops Univision

WARREN – Full Channel TV, a broadband provider serving Barrington, Bristol and Warren, has stopped including WUNI-TV Univision 27 in its channel lineup as of Feb. 18.

Full Channel TV said it decided to stop transmitting the Spanish-language channel after its provider, Entravision, increased its retransmission fees by 33 percent.

“Our customers want and deserve access to the Univision network and we will continue to work with Entravision to gain access to the signal,” said Linda Jane Maaia, president and CEO of the family-owned Full Channel.

The company said it preferred to stop transmitting Univision instead of passing on the higher rates to its customers.
