PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices have continued to fall for the third week in a row, AAA Southern New England said Tuesday.
The auto club’s May 31 survey found the average price of self-serve, unleaded regular at Ocean State stations was $3.93 per gallon, down 5 cents from last week. During the past three weeks, gas prices have declined 13 cents.

In Massachusetts, gas prices also declined by 5 cents, to an average price of $3.84. The national average was $3.79.
According to Bloomberg News, crude oil for July delivery climbed $2.69, or 2.7 percent, to $103.28 a barrel at 9:34 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract reached $103.39, the highest intraday level since May 11.
Oil climbed, trimming the biggest monthly drop in a year, on signals the European Union will approve aid for Greece, bolstering the euro against the dollar, Bloomberg said.
At stations in Rhode Island this week, the survey found average self-serve prices of $4.10 per gallon for midgrade unleaded, $4.22 for premium unleaded gasoline and $4.07 for diesel.
Prices of self-serve regular unleaded ranged from $3.73 to $4.11, the Tuesday survey showed. A year ago, Rhode Islanders, on average, paid $2.80 per gallon at the pump.
Of course this doesn’t count towards inflation. It’s not like consumers actually buy gasoline.i
