The Chamber said two-thirds of the members came thanks to efforts by Providence accounting firm of Piccerelli, Gilstein & Company and Chamber ambassador Tony Cattani. The accounting firm, lead by Irene Fasano, delivered 41 new members and Cattani brought in 37 members.
The Chamber said it would reward Cattani’s effort by providing him a two-year lease of a 2011 BMW 328xi donated by the Inskip Collection in Warwick; the accounting firm will not receive a similar reward.
“The success of this campaign is a testament to the commitment of our members and the value of Chamber membership,” Chamber President Laurie White said. “Despite a challenging economic climate we are able to grow our membership base and strengthen the voice of Rhode Island’s business community.”
The Chamber, which has held the drive for more than 10 years, said the new member businesses come from a variety of industries, locations and sizes. The 139-year-old Chamber counts about 2,000 members from every municipality in the state.
A spokeswoman said that the membership drive increased members by about 93 companies because 25 companies left the Chamber during the drive through normal attrition.
The membership drive began Oct. 1 and ended Nov. 30.
An earlier version of this article incorrectly said that Tony Cattani worked for American Printing.
