PAWTUCKET – Hasbro Inc. President and CEO Brian Goldner has signed a new contract with the toymaker that increases his base salary and makes him eligible for two retention awards.
Goldner’s annual salary rose to $1.2 million on Feb. 1, up from $1 million, under the new contract, MarketWatch reported this week. The deal will keep Goldner at Hasbro’s helm through 2014.

Hasbro also awarded Goldner 125,000 performance share units, which he can earn if the company meets financial targets between now and 2012, and 687,000 stock options that can be exercised at $38.39 a share. They will vest in five installments between March 2011 and 2014.
In return for the higher pay, Hasbro said it got an “enhanced noncompetition commitment” from Goldner, who has led the company since May 2008, when he replaced Alfred J. Verrecchia.
Previously, Goldner had been Hasbro’s chief operating officer for two years, and before that was president of its U.S. toys division from 2003 to 2006.
