PROVIDENCE – Deborah Thomas, chief financial officer of Hasbro Inc., has been named 2010 Citizen of the Year by the March of Dimes Rhode Island’s board of directors.
The annual Citizen of the Year award recognizes a community leader who has worked to advance the March of Dimes’ mission of improving infant health.

Thomas, 46, was promoted from head of corporate finance to CFO at Hasbro last year. She first joined the Pawtucket toymaker’s finance department in 1998.
Before joining Hasbro, Thomas worked at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, the big accounting firm. She graduated from Providence College.
Thomas will be recognized at a fundraising reception for the March of Dimes on June 17 at Aldrich Mansion in Warwick.
Previous Citizens of the Year recipients have included Constance A. Howes, Thomas M. Ryan, Merrill Sherman, John Hazen White Jr., Howard G. Sutton, Alan G. Hassenfeld and Lincoln Almond.
Last month, Providence Business News honored Thomas with a Business Women Award for her achievements as an industry leader in financial services.
