PROVIDENCE – Barbara Haynes has been named the next executive director of McAuley Ministries – a Providence-based nonprofit providing basic support services to those in need via the Sisters of Mercy – according to a Wednesday release from the organization.
In a statement paired with the announcement, Haynes thanked the Sisters of Mercy and the McAuley Ministries board of trustees, saying, “I look forward to getting to know our guests and residents and being a welcoming face each day as we support them on their path to success.”
The former executive director of McAuley Ministries, Donald P. Wolfe, retired at the end of July after 12 years at the nonprofit’s helm.
Haynes most recently served as the interim president at St. Mary Academy – Bay View in East Providence. Prior to that, she was the vice president, market manager for Cumulus Media Inc., also out of East Providence.
Haynes has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.
“Barbara’s passion for helping others, coupled with her extensive leadership experience, helped her stand out among a group of exceptionally strong candidates,” said McAuley Ministries Board Chair Shannon O’Brien, vice president of the Amica Mutual Insurance Co.’s claims executive department, in prepared remarks.
