LINCOLN – The company iXblue Defense Systems celebrated its new Lincoln headquarters’ ribbon-cutting Friday with Gov. Gina M. Raimondo, U.S. Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, and U.S. Rep. James R. Langevin in attendance.

The defense company relocated from Natick, Mass. The R.I. Commerce Corp. approved iXblue for up to $1 million in Qualified Jobs incentives. The incentives only take effect if the requisite number of jobs are maintained and will not begin until those employees’ income taxes have been paid for an entire year.

The company began a manufacturing operation in Cranston a few months ago.

“Innovation is at the heart of Rhode Island’s identity, and I’m thrilled that iXblue is choosing Lincoln for its national headquarters,” said Raimondo. “iXblue’s commitment to Rhode Island is a testament to the resurgence of manufacturing we’re seeing all around the state, thanks in part to our Qualified Jobs initiative.”
