JWU center gets LEED certification

PROVIDENCE – Johnson & Wales University’s Grace Welcome Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Designed by Vision 3 Architects of Providence and situated on a former brownfields site in Johnson & Wales’ Harborside Campus, the Grace Welcome Center is 7,700-square-feet and includes an open lobby, conference center and multi-media presentation room.
The building features a façade of strategically-placed glass panels providing views of Narragansett Bay. Every building material was chosen because of its environmentally-friendly characteristics.
Gold is the second-highest LEED certification level and the certification is the second for a Johnson & Wales building.
