Kristin McCabe, 39
Senior director of innovation, Care New England Health System
How has COVID-19 changed your industry? COVID-19 has forever changed the health care industry. Telehealth and remote patient monitoring are just two things that have really taken off since [the pandemic] started, with no end in sight. Just as important, we’ve had to adapt the way that we care for patients in person. Health care systems were creative with the way they structured COVID-19 testing and vaccine appointments, making them both widely available and convenient to book.
What is the best advice you have ever received? Someone once told me to look at myself 20 years in the future and then look back at the day to determine what is most important. That advice has really helped me keep a great home-work life balance over the years.
What advice would you give your 22-year-old self? Constantly put yourself out there to help other people. Some of the greatest moments of my career have been helping others achieve success.
What moment changed your life more than any other? Becoming a mother. There is nothing better than being a mother of three.
What led you to pursuing a career in your current industry? I minored in health management and policy at the University of New Hampshire and really enjoyed learning about the health care industry. When I graduated, my first job was at a medical software company, and I quickly realized that you don’t have to be a direct care provider to make an impact on a patient’s life. From that point forward, I knew health care was for me.
