Langevin lauds TechACCESS services for disabled

WARWICK – U.S. Rep. James R. Langevin on Friday visited military veterans and others with disabilities at TechACCESS of Rhode Island to bring attention to the organization’s work in helping Rhode Islanders with disabilities live better lives through the use of technology.

“I would not be where I am today if not for the incredible power of technology,” said Langevin, who also co-chairs the Bipartisan Disabilities Caucus. “Assistive technologies – from my iBot wheelchair to voice-activated typing programs – have broken down barriers and made it possible for me to pursue a career in public policy. I believe all people with disabilities should have access to these kinds of life-changing technologies, and TechACCESS of RI is committed to making those connections.”

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Langevin said, he also deeply appreciates and respects the sacrifices made by U.S. veterans who return from service with physical or other disabilities.

“I’m grateful for the work that TechACCESS does, and I’m pleased that I had the opportunity to visit and hear from their clients firsthand,” Langevin said.
