As president and CEO, McMullen will develop and articulate a vision for the museum moving forward and, per the release, “promote the strategies needed to build on the organization’s past successes.”

She replaces James Russell, who left the Whaling Museum in September to become executive director of the Nantucket Historical Association.

McMullen was chosen with the aid of Koya Leadership Partners, a Newburyport, Mass.-based executive search firm, which assisted the museum in an international search to fill the position left vacant by Russell.
