McNamara nominated for Investment Commission

PROVIDENCE – Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee last week named Paula M. McNamara to serve on the R.I. State Investment Commission – a 10-member public body charged with investing state funds.
McNamara has held several high-ranking positions at Fidelity Investments since 1987, most recently serving as senior director of client-services development in Smithfield. She previously served as president of the board of trustees at the Lincoln School in Providence, and currently serves as the president and administrative officer for the Murray Family Charitable Foundation.
McNamara, an East Providence resident, is a 1984 graduate of Brown University, where she serves on the President’s Leadership Council and as vice president of the university’s sports foundation.
The governor names three members of the general public to serve on the commission. McNamara is the first appointment Chafee has made to the panel. This appointment needs Senate approval. •
