Mearthane Products acquires Elmco Tool

CRANSTON – Mearthane Products Corp., a Rhode Island-based developer and manufacturer of customized polyurethane components, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Elmco Tool Inc., a full-service machine shop and provider of precision Computer Numerical Control and machining services based in Bristol, Rhode Island.

MPC had 70 employees before acquiring Elmco Tool’s four employees. A representative from MPC said that “no immediate changes to staffing for either business. However, the acquisition of Elmco allows us to continue on our growth trajectory, and as we grow we expect to bring more new jobs to Rhode Island.”

MPC also intends to keep Elmco’s operations in Bristol.

Mearthane Products Corp. develops and manufactures advanced polyurethane components for defense, banking, postal systems and a “wide variety of industrial and consumer applications worldwide.”

“Elmco’s market focus builds upon MPC’s successful track record in defense and other mission-critical applications,” said Pete Kaczmarek, president and chief operating officer of MPC.

Elmco Tool is equipped to manufacture prototype or production quantities of custom metals or plastics with a capability in defense-related applications.

“Our joint capabilities will allow us to bring a broader range of solutions to our existing customers, while positioning the company for diversification. For example, Elmco’s rapid and sophisticated tool design and machining capability will allow MPC to address our customers’ needs quickly and flexibly, especially during prototyping and early stage production.”

Details of the acquisition were not provided.
