Miriam CEO to lead R.I. Airport Corp.

WARWICK – Kathleen C. Hittner, a physician and a Warwick resident, this week was selected by Gov. Donald L. Carcieri to chair the R.I. Airport Corporation. She replaces James V. Rosati, the chairman since March 2003, who left last month to serve as president and CEO of the Beacon Mutual Insurance Co.

Dr. Hittner is the president and CEO of The Miriam Hospital in Providence.

She has served on the Airport Corporation board?? since 2005, when Carcieri named her to chair its General Aviation Committee, and previously had served the corporation from March 2001 to December 2002.

“Dr. Hittner is not only a dedicated and talented clinician, but she is an effective administrator who has overseen Miriam Hospital’s tremendous growth over the past seven years,” Carcieri said, adding: “There are parallels between the goals that she has accomplished at Miriam Hospital and our goals for the airports – namely, well-run institutions that meet the needs of both passengers and employees,” Carcieri said.
