N.E. Medical Innovation Center hosts women entrepreneurs at speaker series

PROVIDENCE – Two Rhode Island women entrepreneurs are scheduled to speak at the New England Medical Innovation Center’s Women’s Health and Entrepreneurship Series week.

Debbie Lin Teodorescu, the founder of SurgiBox, and Melissa Richter Bowley, founder and CEO of Momunity, will address opportunities for women in health in southern New England.

Teodorescu, a practicing physician, worked with a number of groups, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, and the U.S. Air Force to create SurgiBox. The product provides tools and personal protective equipment in order to allow surgical teams to operate when they are without access to standard facilities.

Bowley, a biomedical engineer who has worked with medical devices for more than 15 years, developed Momunity to connect new and expecting mothers to support and care within their communities.
