National Grid Rhode Island, East Providence police and fire and East Providence Emergency Management will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise working through a fake natural-gas incident.
The exercise, including about 40 people, is designed to focus on how emergency personnel respond to a simulated third-party dig-up incident in the preparation for an actual event.

“The exercise will allow provide a framework for future response to potential gas incidents and allow key personnel to exchange ideas and expertise in responding and recovering from gas-related incidents,” the state’s largest utility company announced.
The exercise is scheduled for two hours from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
