12U Softball team plays in weekend tournament
Needham, MA May 25, 2010: This past weekend, after completing most of its AAU Spring season, the Needham Fastpitch 12U team played its first ASA Softball Tournament.
The Tewksbury Girls Softball League organized its First Annual Think Pink Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament and Needham Fastpitch was one of sixteen 12U teams from Massachusetts and New Hampshire to participate in this worthwhile event.

11 players from Needham Fastpitch’s 12U AAU Softball Team played five games this weekend and represented Needham very well. Solid play was exhibited with double plays, throwing out many base runners, pitchers earning strikeouts and quite a few offensive runs scored. On May 22 Needham Fastpitch won its first game, 12-4, before dropping the next two contests. At the end of Saturday, Needham Fastpitch was seeded 11th out of 16 teams for Sunday.
On Sunday, Needham Fastpitch won its first game, 14-7, against the sixth seeded team in a rematch from Saturday. Needham Fastpitch then lost the quarterfinal game to a very strong Westford Waves team (third Seed).
Needham Fastpitch finished the tournament with two wins and three losses, and raised money for cancer research.
The players for the Needham team included Shayna Arronson, Lucy Colarusso, Daniella Dalsheim, Cameron Hallagan, Shelby Kaufman, Julia May, Lucia Mitrano, Julia Ritcey, Emily Rizzo, Annie Rotman and Jocelyn Spitz, and they were coached by Stacey Colarusso and Roy Dalsheim
