SERVING SOME OF the state’s most vulnerable populations, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island emphasizes the health of its employees, and its policies and procedures reflect this.

The organization offers a Healthwatch Wellness Program, in which almost 75% of employees participate, yoga/mindfulness seminars; healthy eating options; and a comprehensive benefits package. Also, a new on-site fitness center was introduced this year. It offers cardiovascular and strength-training equipment provided free for employees.
Neighborhood Health Plan has worked closely with its information systems team to easily transition to remote operations, including moving wellness meetings and webinars online, due to COVID-19. Enhanced safety measures, such as requiring all employees to wear cloth face coverings except when working alone in an office and to practice social distancing, are also being implemented.
