EAST GREENWICH – New England Institute of Technology’s master degree offering grew by two Monday when the school announced it would add engineering management and applied design to its curriculum.

The programs, which are under the management of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, are designed for working professionals seeking to advance their careers as well as recent college graduates.

Further expanding the college, said Douglas H. Sherman, senior vice president and provost, the school’s focus is on developing, “progressive, engaging programs that address the needs of today’s employers.”

He added: “Our programs are competitively priced among other private, non-profit universities in the region, so students receive a high caliber education at a very competitive cost.”

A master of science program, the engineering management master’s will focus on preparing students for leadership roles through business, financial, process and production knowledge. It integrates technical and managerial courses to “bridge the gap between multi-disciplinary fields of engineering and business management,” according to the release.

Taking a hands-on approach to learning, the master of science in applied design program targets individuals in any industry who face challenges from new technologies to automation or evolving consumer preference. The program is based on a set of online courses and twice-per-year week-long, on-campus residencies.
