Patrice Dudley-Aviles is director of human resources at Amgen’s Rhode Island facility, but the job title poorly reflects the scope of her responsibilities.
Dudley-Aviles joined Amgen in 2006 as human resources director, leading a team of 10 staff members. She has developed a talent pipeline that helps her find “highly qualified individuals who share Amgen’s passion and dedication to serving patients,” she said in her 40 Under Forty application.
In addition, she is: a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, composed of the most senior executives at Amgen; a member of the Amgen Diversity Council; human resources liaison for the Amgen Women’s Interactive Network; and one of four team leaders for life@ari, an initiative exclusive to Amgen Rhode Island. For the latter, she heads the “people development” team, which encourages personal development and job confidence. She also champions and is a member of the Amgen mentorship program.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions, she has received Amgen’s APEX award, the highest award offered through the company’s international staff recognition program.
Before coming to Amgen, she worked in employee resources at Pfizer Inc. facilities in Groton, Conn., Brooklyn, N.Y., and New York City from 1995 to 2006, rising from employee resources associate to director/team leader.
She gives credit to her parents, JoAnn and M.H. Dudley Jr., as the people who most inspire her. “They energize my thirst for knowledge, inspire me to give back, and encourage me to challenge the goals I have set.” •
