Patrick: Residents will receive benefit extension

BOSTON– Massachusetts Gov. Deval L. Patrick last week announced that state residents presently receiving unemployment benefits will collect an additional $25 in weekly compensation as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The additional compensation begins March 23, and is retroactive from February 22, 2009.
Patrick also unveiled his Massachusetts Recovery Plan, highlighting a statewide program to revitalize neighborhoods impacted by foreclosure and the $125 million reconstruction of the Chelsea Street Bridge expected to create or save 150 jobs. The governor’s plan will combine state, federal and, where possible, private efforts to provide “long-term relief and position the commonwealth for recovery,” Patrick said in a statement. &#8226
