PCU set to open 12th location

CRANSTON – Pawtucket Credit Union, the state’s largest in terms of assets, is ready to cut the ribbon on its 12th location.
PCU executives will officially open a branch at 40 Sockanossett Cross Road, Cranston, at 10 a.m., Thursday. The office will be the second located in Cranston for the credit union.
The expansion comes after PCU gained the distinction of being the largest of Rhode Island credit union, surpassing Smithfield-based Navigant Credit Union in the 2009 first quarter.
According to filing with the National Credit Union Association, Pawtucket Credit Union has $1.13 billion in assets while Navigant has $1.09 billion.
Meanwhile, Westerly-based Washington Trust Co. (Nasdaq: WASH) held a vault signing and groundbreaking ceremony in Warwick on Monday for a branch to be constructed at the site of the former Barry’s nightclub on Warwick Avenue. When completed in the fall, the branch will be Washington Trust’s 18th, and the second in Warwick.

Pawtucket Credit Union is the state’s largest credit union with $1.13 billion in assets. Based in Pawtucket, the credit union has 11 locations in Rhode Island. Additional information is available www.pcu.org.
