Providence College wins ‘smartest school’ contest

PROVIDENCE – A three-member team from Providence College defeated students from the University of Maine to capture the title of “New England’s smartest school” in the final round of AT&T Schooled: New England Sports Network’s College Face Off competition. All three rounds were telecast in September on NESN.
Providence College was represented by students Allison M. Burg of Vernon, Conn., Christopher J. Pedraita of Glen Cove, N.Y., and Steven T. Fleming of Wakefield, Mass. “We were really just unstoppable, especially in the trivia department,” Burg said.
In earlier rounds, Providence College defeated teams from the University of Connecticut and the University of Massachusetts, and was the only Rhode Island school selected to take part in the challenge. &#8226
