PROVIDENCE – The FiRE+iCE restaurant at Providence Place closed its doors for good on June 25, citing a broken air conditioner as the reason for the closure.

In a news release, a spokesperson for the eatery said that numerous cost-effective and timely solutions were explored before they ultimately made the decision to close the restaurant.

“Specific parts for the AC repair would take eight to 12 weeks, and unfortunately due to the 40-foot ceilings and an 11,000-plus-square-foot space, any conventional means of cooling would not be effective,” the release said. “With loyal guests being unsatisfied due to the maintenance issue, and dedicated staff having unpleasant working conditions, owners concluded that closing the doors permanently was the best and final solution.”

FiRE+iCE served customers at its Providence location for 17 years.
