Although the figure remains tiny, the Providence market area is in the top one-third nationwide for iPad concentration, according to the Web analytics firm Net Applications.
The iPad made up 0.11 percent of Internet browsers visiting Net Applications’ clients’ sites from the Providence area last month, the company said.

Providence was one of 16 Designated Market Areas – The Nielsen Co.’s way of carving up the country into regions – with a 0.11 percent share for the iPad. Others included Hartford, Conn., Detroit and Philadelphia.
The iPad was most popular in the San Francisco area (0.25 percent share) and Grand Junction, Colo. (0.23 percent), followed by a four-way tie at 0.19 percent between Santa Barbara, Calif., Honolulu, Hawaii, Bend, Ore., and Austin, Texas. Boston was tied for the market with 16th-most iPads at 0.15 percent.
Apple Inc. says it has sold more than 1 million of its new tablet computers since they went on sale in early April.
