R.I.’s 4.5% jobless rate in January is 2nd highest in New England

PROVIDENCE – The January unemployment rate of 4.5% in Rhode Island was the second highest in New England along with Connecticut and above the national rate of 4.3%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Across the nation, unemployment rates were higher in January in one state, Florida, and stable in 49 states and Washington, D.C.   Year
