Raytheon lands $232.8M Navy contract

WALTHAM, Mass. – Raytheon Co., the Massachusetts defense-based contractor, announced this week that it won a $232.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to develop a landing system for its aircraft carriers.
The all-weather system, dubbed the “Joint Precision Approach and Landing System,” will make use of GPS technology. The contract covers the development and demonstration phase of the project.
“When our service members are conducting missions in hostile environments or inclement weather, we want them to have confidence that their aircraft will land exactly where they should each and every time,” said Andy Zogg, Raytheon vice president of airspace management and homeland security.
