PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island School Superintendents’ Association announced its Superintendent of the Year is Donna Ottaviano of the North Providence school system.
Ottavaino, the president of RISSA, will be honored at the annual American Association of School Administrators’ national conference in Houston in February. Additionally, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in her name to a graduating senior from North Providence High School, who intends to pursue a degree in education.

She has spent her entire career, except for 4 years, with the North Providence School Department, a RISSA news release said.
Ottaviano graduated from North Providence High School, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in educational administration from Rhode Island College, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Johnson and Wales University.
