RIBGH event to focus on reform

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Business Group on Health has invited an expert from Mercer and Health Insurance Commissioner Christopher F. Koller to speak at a May 20 meeting focused on the federal health care reform law and related legislation and initiatives in Rhode Island.
The event, which runs from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Providence Marriott, will feature presentations by Koller and by Marie Chalmers, principal and middle market leader for Mercer’s New England Health & Benefits Group.
The goal of the program, organizers said, is to make employers aware of strategies that they can start to use now to keep employees informed about the impact of health care reform, and to make them aware of compliance time lines and the required structure of benefit plans.
The RIBGH website, at www.ribgh.org, has been enhanced to help businesses understand the reform law. It includes original materials developed by RIBGH members, as well as links to free resources from the Kaiser Family Foundation and from Mercer, among others.
