PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island’s official state website, RI.gov, has won top honors in the national Best of the Web competition by the Center for Digital Government. The site ranked fourth in the competition.
Sites in the competition are judged on overall efficiency, economy, functionality and design. The review is conducted by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies. Launched this past May, the new RI.gov website features a design approach optimized for use on a tablet, smartphone or desktop, enabling users to easily access RI.gov no matter where they are.
“Rhode Islanders can take great pride in this recognition of RI.gov’s latest achievements,” said Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee. “We’re pleased to be improving the interaction between citizens and their government on the Web, and we look forward to bringing more innovative services online in the months and years to come.” •
