PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Public Transit Authority said its buses will stop entering Lincoln Park, effective today, because the gambling facility no longer allows them access to the property.
Inbound and outbound trips on RIPTA Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket) will drop off passengers at the Lincoln State Police Barracks instead of at Lincoln Park. The bus stop signs will be removed from the gambling park as soon as possible, the transit agency said.

“We regret the inconvenience to our customers, who will now have to walk about a half a mile to and from the Lincoln Park entrance,” Alfred J. Moscola, RIPTA’s general manager, said in a statement yesterday. “Unfortunately, we had no say in the park’s decision.”
Inquiries about the decision should be directed to George Papanier, president of Lincoln Park, at 723-3200, RIPTA said.
Lincoln Park executives did not respond to the Providence Business News’ repeated requests for comment.
