WOONSOCKET – Riverzedge Arts, based out of the former Second Avenue School since 2014, has purchased the building and plans a renovation and structural upgrade this spring.
The focus of the renovation will be on structural and systems improvements, according to a news release.

Riverzedge Arts purchased the former public school, at 196 Second Ave., for $10 from the city of Woonsocket in late 2017.
Building ownership allowed the nonprofit to seek capital investments to provide a match for the $249,000 RISCA state cultural facilities grant, awarded earlier in 2017.
The renovation of the building will provide a modern work space. A Providence firm, Jonathan Chamber Architects, will design the upgrades and make the building compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
The work is expected to begin in late spring.
