PROVIDENCE – Dr. Vincent Falanga, chairman of the department of dermatology and skin surgery at Roger Williams Medical Center, has been awarded a $250,000 research grant by Revalesio Corp.
The Tacoma-based life sciences company has selected Roger Williams to host a trial of its new treatment for venous leg ulcers, citing Falanga’s expertise in the study and treatment of chronic wounds.

“We are pleased that the Revalesio Corp. has awarded Dr. Falanga this grant,” Kenneth H. Belcher, the hospital’s president and CEO, said today in announcing the grant. He “is a recognized leader in the field of wound healing,” Belcher said. “His important research is making a difference in Rhode Island and throughout the world.”
Falanga is a professor of biochemistry and dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine; a past president of the international Wound Healing Society; the author of more than 300 publications; and a co-author of four textbooks on wound healing, the hospital said.
