Salter School unveils new Fall River campus

According to school officials, 111 students have enrolled in the professional medical assistant and health claims specialist certificate programs, the Fall River Office of Economic Development said in a release. Day and evening classes, as well as financial aid for qualified students are available.

The school has students from Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton, Providence and other surrounding communities, according to Mary Lynch, the director of the campus. The Salter School has been offering career-training programs since 1937, and has four Massachusetts locations including its main campus in Worcester.

Magazine names Fleet ‘Best Place to Work’ for working mothers

BOSTON – FleetBoston Financial recently has been recognized among the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother Magazine, an annual list of companies that recognizes the needs of working families, the bank said in a statement.

This is the fifth year the bank has been listed. Fleet was recognized for its flexible working arrangements, WorkLife programs including Fleet’s $1,000 subsidy for grandparents raising a grandchild, and advancement of women within Fleet. Working Mother also praised Fleet CEO Chad Gifford for encouraging a workplace that balances family and career.

This is the 18th year that Working Mother has conducted its annual survey to identify the 100 best places to work for working mothers. Editors focused on a company’s culture, employee population and policies on work and life and women’s advancement, Fleet said. This year, the magazine paid special attention to flexible scheduling, advancement of women and child-care options.
