Sandler Sales gets new name; other changes planned

STEVENSON, Md. – Sandler Sales Institute, a franchised sales and management training organization, has changed its name to Sandler Training.
Other changes are also in the works at the company, founded in 1967 by late sales trainer David H. Sandler – who began offering franchises in 1983 – and now led by President Bruce Seidman and CEO David Mattson.
“Bruce and I have mapped out ambitious expansion plans as part of our vision for Sandler’s second 25 years,” Mattson said in a statement. “We will be expanding our training offerings and emphasizing broader management and leadership guidance, including building deep expertise in targeted vertical markets such as banking and insurance.”
The privately held company is now celebrating its 25th year as a franchise operation. Today, it has about 28 employees and a network of more than 160 trainers and consultants at about 225 U.S. and international locations, including two in Rhode Island and 14 in Massachusetts.
Three local training centers are listed on the company’s Web site: Jacob Belt’s Sales PhD Inc., at the Calart Tower in Providence; John Polumbo’s Strategic Sales Group Inc., on Felix Mirando Way in Providence; and Greg Nanigian and Assoc. Inc., on Oxford Road in Mansfield.
Sandler was recently honored by Entrepreneur magazine as the nation’s No. 1 management training franchise for the third year in a row. The company received an overall ranking of No. 264 in the magazine’s 2008 Franchise 500.
