Rich Small | Neurotech Pharmaceuticals Inc. CEO
By training, I am a certified public accountant with a professional history focused in raising capital, strategizing and completing business transactions, all the while ensuring internal operations are running as efficiently as possible.
While there are parallels between my past and present work experience, leading an organization is quite different. Decisions need to be made expeditiously, and as fairly as possible, keeping in mind the ramifications to both the business and organization.
Neurotech is developing therapeutic treatments for the eye. Our lead clinical program is working to develop a treatment for an orphan disease called macular telangiectasia.
One of the biggest challenges I face as CEO is navigating the organization through the many challenges of developing a treatment opportunity for MacTel.
We have been working on our core technology for many years. Keeping the company on track, focused and together as a team over a long period of time takes an extreme amount of organizational discipline, perseverance and teamwork.
One strategy we employ is using weekly team meetings to discuss the key operating strategic issues facing the company. It’s critical to maintain an open exchange of information to achieve success in bringing a new therapy to market.
We also organize several team-building events during the year to cultivate interdepartmental collaboration, unify the organization and create an enjoyable work environment.
